One nice thing is that Toyota owns the company that builds these transmissions and they've got a good track record. There's a lot of information online about other brands of cars with a different company's CVTs that sometimes fail and are expensive to replace. Feeling pretty good about my purchase on that score. The only negative with the car was due to the fact that it was sitting on the lot for a while. The breaks and rotors had rusted over and I had to get them re-done to get rid of the scraping and throbbing noises. But I factored that into the deal and, being a small Toyota, the cost of the repairs wasn't much. The car sounds great, now! My mechanic says these are great little cars and I'm feeling very good about the purchase.
